How To Stop This One Second From Destroying Your Business!

At 9:34 AM on February 20, 2005 it happened. It is Sunday morning in Florida. February in Florida is a normally a terrific time of the year. The humidity is low, the temperature in the upper 70's to mid 80's - nice. This Sunday started just like that - quiet, great weather - no unusual life events.

I was up early. I usually am. I had been to the gym, which is a priority for me on the weekends since my time for exercise is limited during the week. I was now ready to address a couple of items that I had added to my agenda for part of the day.

One of those activities was what I am doing now - writing valuable information for my readership. So I open my web site editor and start to write. At the moment I started there was a brief flash telling me in heart beat something was wrong. Before I could evaluate the developing problem, it was gone - the flash, the screen and my computer.

I could write a book on the impact  of losing data. In 1997 I had already become dependent on my laptop. In that year I lost my first hard drive. The data on that drive was so important I sent it to a lab that did work for the CIA and FBI. Several thousands of dollar later I had my data and I was thankful. Five years later I understood how people were being indicted based on data recovered from their hard drives --- data they thought was destroyed.

OK- all of that is another book. Back to the point. I have been paranoid about back up data.  A couple of years ago I discovered The Pocket PC . I have no connection to this company, don't know anyone at this company, and get paid nothing from this company. I would accept huge payments from them if they offered them to me for my comments. If you have any connections to this company please tell them I give them my highest endorsement and they should pay me millions to write about them.

Pocket PC was my lifesaver because I backed up all my files on this wonderful portable hard drive which holds a lot of stuff. Now here is the only problem encountered. I have used Outlook Express and an old contact manager for years. This data is not easily recovered. I don't know why - it just isn't. So I lost a lot of data stored in email folders and other places that was not in user friendly format.
